The 126 MW Lower Seti Hydropower Project is set to be constructed in Tanahun district with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank.

According to project chief Hari Kumar Shrestha, the total investment for the project is estimated at USD 227 million. The funding structure includes 30% equity and 70% debt financing.

The semi-reservoir project’s dam will be located in Bandipur-6 and Devghat Rural Municipality-3, while the powerhouse, staff housing, and main tunnel will be constructed in Devghat-3 and 4.

Shrestha confirmed that land acquisition of around 146 ropani has already begun for the construction of the powerhouse and staff housing facilities.

Once completed, the project is expected to boost electricity generation capacity in Gandaki Province and contribute additional power to Nepal’s national grid.
