218 Applications Received for Vice-Chancellor Posts Across 8 Universities in Nepal
A total of 218 applications have been submitted for vice-chancellor positions in eight Nepali universities, with the selection and recommendation committee beginning the review process under the Ministry of Education.

The selection and recommendation committee under Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has started reviewing 218 applications received for vacant vice-chancellor positions across eight universities.
The ministry had published a notice on Baisakh 25 inviting applications from eligible and interested candidates within a 10-day period. Among the total applications, the highest number—50 applications—were received for the post of Vice-Chancellor at Tribhuvan University.
Similarly, 38 applications each were received for Purbanchal University and Pokhara University. Other applications include 19 for Sudurpaschim University, 20 for Mid-Western University, 11 for Lumbini Buddhist University, 15 for Agriculture and Forestry University, and 27 for Rajarshi Janak University.
The committee has now begun detailed document verification and will soon publish a shortlist of eligible candidates. The final selection process will proceed afterward.
The appointment process follows the newly approved “Integrated Procedure for Vice-Chancellor Selection and Recommendation, 2083,” endorsed on Baisakh 24. Following a special ordinance regarding removal of public office holders, university officials had been relieved of their positions, leading to the current appointment process.
