2,746 Drivers Penalized in 24 Hours for Traffic Violations in Kathmandu Valley

The Nepal Traffic Police reported that 2,746 drivers were penalized in the Kathmandu Valley over the past 24 hours during traffic monitoring operations.

According to spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi, violations included 79 cases of drunk driving, 225 ride-sharing violations, 175 red-light violations, 148 overspeeding cases, 324 lane violations, 149 footpath driving cases, 55 horn restriction violations, 54 improper pick-up/drop cases, and 1,537 other offenses.

The total revenue collected from these actions amounted to NPR 2,964,501.

Traffic police emphasized that driving under the influence is a serious punishable offense and urged the public to report suspected cases to the nearest police office, Traffic Control Room (hotline 103), or police hotline 100
