Asian Development Bank has approved a $115 million concessional loan to support an integrated water supply and sanitation improvement project in municipalities across Nepal.
According to ADB, the project will benefit more than 850,000 people in 13 districts by expanding access to safe drinking water and improving sewerage and wastewater management systems.
ADB’s Country Director for Nepal, Arnaud Cauchois, said rapid urbanization is increasing pressure on urban infrastructure, leaving many communities without adequate access to safe water and basic sanitation.
He added that the project is expected to significantly improve access to clean water and sanitation services across targeted areas.
