Bagmati Province Doubles Driving Licence Fees from FY 2083/84, Extends Validity to 10 Years
The Bagmati Province Government has doubled fees for driving licence applications, new licences, renewals, and category additions under the Economic Bill 2083.

The Bagmati Province Government has doubled all fees related to driving licences, including application charges, new licence issuance, renewal, and category addition, through the Economic Bill 2083 introduced for the implementation of the fiscal year 2083/84 budget.
The revised fee structure will come into effect from the beginning of the new fiscal year.
Under the new provisions, the application fee for all categories of driving licences has been increased from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000.
Similarly, the fee for obtaining or renewing a motorcycle and scooter (Category A/K) licence has been doubled from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3,000.
Licence fees for cars, jeeps, vans (Category B), tempos, auto-rickshaws (Category C), and power tillers (Category D) have increased from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 4,000.
For tractors (Category E) and minibuses and mini trucks (Category F), the fee has risen from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 5,000.
Likewise, licence issuance and renewal fees for trucks, buses, road rollers, dozers, cranes, fire engines, loaders, excavators, and backhoe loaders (Categories G–J) have been increased from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 6,000.
The provincial government has also decided that all newly issued and renewed driving licences will remain valid for 10 years.
In addition, category addition fees have also doubled. Adding categories A to F will now cost Rs. 1,000 instead of Rs. 500, while adding Categories G to J will cost Rs. 2,000, up from the previous Rs. 1,000.
