Bank FD Rates Decline in Shrawan; Nabil and Prabhu Bank Offer Highest Returns

Commercial banks have published their new fixed deposit (FD) interest rates for Shrawan, with most banks keeping their rates unchanged while some institutions made minor adjustments.

According to the latest rates announced by 20 commercial banks, the majority maintained their existing FD rates for both individual and institutional depositors. However, Rastriya Banijya Bank Limited introduced the biggest reduction, cutting its individual FD rate by 0.75 percentage points to 4.00% and reducing its institutional FD rate by 1 percentage point to 3.00%.

Nepal Bank Limited was the only bank to increase rates during the period. The bank raised its institutional FD rate by 1 percentage point to 4.00%, while keeping its individual deposit rate unchanged at 4.25%.

For individual depositors, Nabil Bank and Prabhu Bank are offering the highest return at 4.55%. They are followed by Machhapuchchhre Bank, Sanima Bank, Nepal Investment Mega Bank, and NMB Bank, which are offering 4.50%.

For institutional depositors, Nepal Bank Limited offers the highest interest rate at 4.00%, while Everest Bank follows with a 3.50% return.

Twelve commercial banks, including Everest Bank, Himalayan Bank, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, Machhapuchchhre Bank, Nabil Bank, Nepal Investment Mega Bank, Nepal SBI Bank, NIC Asia Bank, Prime Commercial Bank, Prabhu Bank, Sanima Bank, and Siddhartha Bank, have kept their FD rates unchanged for Shrawan.

With liquidity conditions remaining comfortable in the banking sector, deposit rates have continued to face downward pressure. While lower interest rates may support borrowers, reduced FD returns could affect depositors seeking stable income from fixed-income products.
