Buddha Air Introduces Nepal's First ATR 72-600 Aircraft
Buddha Air has added Nepal's first ATR 72-600 aircraft to its fleet, marking a major step toward safer, more efficient, and modern domestic air travel.
Buddha Air has expanded its fleet by introducing Nepal's first ATR 72-600 aircraft, further strengthening its domestic aviation services with next-generation technology. The aircraft, registered as 9N-AOS, arrived in Nepal on Saturday.
According to the airline, the ATR 72-600 features advanced avionics, Required Navigation Performance Authorization Required (RNP AR) capability, enhanced safety systems, improved fuel efficiency, and greater passenger comfort. The company believes the aircraft will significantly improve the safety, reliability, and operational efficiency of domestic flights across Nepal.
As part of its fleet modernization strategy, Buddha Air has also retired several older ATR aircraft after they reached their certified operational life. Its ATR 42 completed 70,000 flight cycles before retirement in 2024, while the ATR 72-500 (9N-AJO) was retired earlier this year after completing 72,000 flight cycles.
With the addition of the ATR 72-600, Buddha Air now operates a fleet of more than 16 ATR aircraft, reinforcing its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and modern air transportation services across Nepal.
