Businessman Arrested for Attempting Illegal Import Using Fake Permit

Police have arrested a businessman for attempting to import restricted “chokda” by forging official government documents. The accused has been identified as Navin Kumar Agrawal, operator of Simwin International Impex.

According to authorities, despite a complete ban on chokda imports in Nepal, he created a fake permit using forged letterhead, seal, and signature of the Department of Commerce Supply and Consumer Protection, claiming approval to import 100 tons of the product.

The fake documents were submitted to the Birgunj Customs Office, which raised suspicion and triggered an investigation.

Agrawal, aged 55, was arrested on Baisakh 17 from Adarshanagar in Parsa district. Police have stated that further investigation is ongoing and legal action will be taken under charges of document forgery and illegal import attempts.
