Cabinet Transfers Eight Nepal Police AIGs in Major Leadership Reshuffle

The Government of Nepal has approved the transfer of eight Additional Inspectors General (AIGs) of the Nepal Police as part of a major leadership reshuffle.

The decision was taken during the Council of Ministers meeting held on Thursday, according to Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel. The transfers are expected to bring changes in the leadership of several key departments and provincial police offices.

Although the government has confirmed the transfers, the detailed list of the officers and their new postings is expected to be released separately by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Nepal Police Headquarters.

Such transfers are a routine part of police administration and are carried out to strengthen organizational efficiency, improve service delivery, and enhance coordination within the security apparatus. Senior police officers are periodically reassigned based on administrative needs, experience, and institutional priorities.

The latest reshuffle is expected to have a significant impact on the leadership structure of Nepal Police as the transferred AIGs assume their new responsibilities in various departments and commands.
