Construction Resumes at Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium After Budget Release
Construction work at the Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium in Bharatpur, Chitwan, has resumed after a month-long halt following the release of Rs 90 million by the Bagmati Province Government

Construction of the Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium in Bharatpur, Chitwan, has resumed after being suspended for nearly a month due to delayed payments to the contractor.
The construction company had halted work, citing unpaid bills caused by delays in budget disbursement from the Bagmati Province Government. However, following the release of Rs 90 million by the provincial government, work has restarted, according to Bharatpur Metropolitan City's engineer, Aadarsh Pokharel.
Division Engineer Santosh Acharya stated that payments have now been made to the contractor as per submitted bills. The stadium is being constructed by Himalayan Kalinchok BBR JV.
The contract period is set to expire on Poush 22, 2083 (January 2027). According to project officials, approximately 55 percent of the construction work has been completed so far.
In Asar 2081, Bharatpur Metropolitan City signed a contract worth Rs 755 million with the construction company, with a target to complete the project by Poush 22, 2083.
The metropolitan city initiated the project through a competitive bidding process after the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation was unable to complete the stadium's construction.
