Department Seizes Over 100 Suspected Counterfeit Products, Quality Testing Underway

Nepal's Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has seized more than 100 suspected counterfeit products during its latest market monitoring campaign. The inspection team confiscated various consumer goods, including massage oils, shampoos, tea products, dietary supplements, and other daily-use items being sold through online platforms and social media.

According to the department, the seized products are undergoing laboratory testing to verify their quality, authenticity, and whether they are safe for consumer use. Legal action will be taken against the concerned products and businesses based on the test results.

Director General Motiram Sapkota said the department has intensified market inspections to protect consumer health and rights and to curb the sale of counterfeit products. He also urged the public to report any suspicious or fake products found in the marketplace.
