Deuba Couple Inform Government of Return Plan, Pledge Cooperation in Investigation
Former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Dr. Arzu Rana have informed authorities that they will return to Nepal by August 12 and have pledged full cooperation with the ongoing investigation.

Former Prime Minister and former president of the Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, along with his wife Arzu Rana Deuba, have informed the government that they will return to Nepal by August 12 (Shrawan 28).
The couple sent an email to the Department of Money Laundering Investigation, stating that they are currently abroad for medical treatment and will return within the specified timeframe.
In their letter addressed to the department’s Director General, they expressed their commitment to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation. They also requested authorities to avoid creating misleading narratives and refrain from unnecessary legal actions against them.
The letter emphasizes that their objective is not to obstruct or delay the investigation but to prove their innocence through a transparent, evidence-based, and lawful process.
The Deuba couple also reminded authorities that the Supreme Court had previously issued an interim order against their arrest.
An investigation team was formed following a complaint filed last October. However, the couple claims they did not receive any formal notice from the department requiring their appearance before leaving Nepal for Singapore in February.
They further stated that no constitutional body, including the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), has conducted any adverse findings against them and that no suspicious assets or valuables have been discovered during the investigation.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that an attempt to secure an Interpol Red Notice against the couple was unsuccessful, with Interpol allegedly declining the request due to insufficient evidence.
