Dirgha Bahadur Rawal Takes Charge at NRB

Dirgha Bahadur Rawal, the newly appointed Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), has taken the oath of office and secrecy before NRB Governor Prof. Dr. Biswo Nath Poudel and formally assumed his duties.

Rawal was appointed Deputy Governor by the Cabinet on Bhadra 3, 2083 BS. His appointment brings an experienced central bank official into the NRB's senior leadership, following more than two decades of service at the institution.

Rawal joined Nepal Rastra Bank as an Assistant Director in 2062 BS. Since then, he has progressed through various positions within the central bank, taking on increasing responsibilities across its operations and regulatory functions.

His career at NRB culminated in his promotion to Executive Director in Jestha 2082. The promotion reflected his long experience within the central bank and its institutional and regulatory functions.

Following his appointment as Executive Director, Rawal served in the Bank Supervision Department, one of the key departments responsible for overseeing Nepal's banking and financial institutions.

His experience in bank supervision is particularly relevant to the central bank's regulatory role, as NRB is responsible for maintaining the stability and soundness of Nepal's banking and financial system.

With his appointment as Deputy Governor, Rawal will now take on a broader leadership role within Nepal's central banking system. The position places him among the senior officials responsible for supporting the governor and carrying out the central bank's policy and regulatory responsibilities.

Rawal's appointment also adds continuity from within the institution, as his career has been built entirely through different levels of responsibility at Nepal Rastra Bank.

He formally began his tenure as Deputy Governor after completing the oath-taking ceremony before Governor Poudel, marking the start of his new responsibilities at the central bank.
