Education Ministry Warns Against Unauthorized Foreign Academic Programs
The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports has warned that educational institutions operating foreign academic programs without prior approval.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports has warned educational institutions against operating foreign academic programs such as A-Level, CBSE, IBDP, and other international curricula without obtaining prior approval from the ministry.
The warning follows the Cabinet's approval of the Foreign Academic Programs (Operation and Regulation) Regulations, 2083, aimed at strengthening the quality assurance and regulatory oversight of foreign-affiliated educational programs operating in Nepal.
According to ministry spokesperson and Under-Secretary Krishna Chandra Pokharel, some institutions have been found running foreign academic programs without official authorization. The ministry has therefore reiterated that all institutions must comply with the existing legal provisions.
The ministry has also requested the public and concerned stakeholders to submit written information within three days if they are aware of any educational institutions operating foreign academic programs without the required approval.
Under the new regulations, foreign universities and educational institutions offering affiliated academic programs in Nepal will be required to meet updated regulatory standards. The ministry expects the new framework to improve the quality of higher education, enhance transparency, and ensure more effective monitoring of foreign academic programs.
