Egg prices in Nepal have reached an all-time high following a decline in production. The Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association has increased the prices of different egg sizes by up to Rs. 15 per crate, effective Friday.

Under the new pricing, XL eggs now cost Rs. 605 per crate. The price of large eggs has reached Rs. 590 per crate, while medium eggs are priced at Rs. 550 per crate.

According to the association, prices of all egg categories except small eggs have been increased. The price of small eggs remains unchanged at Rs. 458 per crate. This is the farm-supported price, while the consumer price is Rs. 25 per egg.

Previously, XL eggs were priced at Rs. 590 per crate, large eggs at Rs. 575 and medium eggs at Rs. 535 per crate. The price of small eggs was also Rs. 458 per crate.

The association said the price increase was driven by lower egg production, which has reduced overall supply in the market.
