Egg Prices Rise Again in Nepal, Retail Rates Reach Up to Rs 25 Per Egg
Egg prices have increased once again after the Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association announced new farm support prices effective Friday.

Egg prices have risen again in Nepal following the announcement of new farm support prices by the Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association, effective from Friday.
According to the revised pricing structure, XL eggs are now priced at Rs 560 per crate, large eggs at Rs 545 per crate, and medium eggs at Rs 515 per crate. Prices for small-sized eggs have also been increased.
The price adjustment has already started affecting retail markets, where eggs are being sold at around Rs 25 per piece in many locations. Traders say the increase reflects rising production costs faced by poultry farmers.
Farmers have welcomed the decision, stating that higher feed, medicine, transportation, and operational costs have significantly impacted profitability in recent months. The revised farm support prices are expected to provide some relief to producers struggling with increasing expenses.
However, consumers have expressed concern over the rising cost of a staple source of protein. As eggs are a common household food item across Nepal, the price hike is expected to add pressure to daily living expenses.
Industry stakeholders note that future price movements will depend on production costs, market demand, and supply conditions in the coming weeks.
