Final Round of Talks Begins Between Government and Loan Shark Victims

The final round of negotiations between the government and representatives of loan shark (meter interest) victims has begun at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.

The discussions are focused on finalizing an agreement based on the verbal understanding reached earlier in Simara. Officials said today's meeting is expected to conclude with a formal agreement if consensus is reached on the remaining issues.

The government negotiation team is led by Pushkar Sapkota, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The team also includes Joint Secretary Kali Prasad Parajuli from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Yogendra Prasad Dulal, Director General of the Department of Land Management.

The victims' negotiation team is coordinated by Awadhesh Kushwaha from Nawalparasi (Susta East). Other members include Manoj Paswan of Siraha, Rijan Rana Magar of Gorkha, Laxmi Ghimire of Bhojpur, Kiran Pariyar of Bardaghat West, and Nirgaraj Jaisi of Kailali.

The victims have been protesting for a long time, demanding justice and stronger action against illegal moneylending practices. Both sides are expected to work toward a final settlement during the ongoing talks.
