Finance Minister Wagle Assures Investors: “No Crackdown in Share Market, No Need to Panic”

Kathmandu — Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has clarified that the government has no policy of investigating investors by questioning the source of their wealth in the stock market.

Speaking at a meeting with officials from the Society of Economic Journalists Nepal (SEJON), Wagle stated that the fear seen in the market is unnecessary. He emphasized that action will only be taken against illegal activities such as insider trading, manipulation, or unethical practices.

“There is no crackdown campaign by the government,” he said, urging retail investors not to panic amid recent market fluctuations.

Wagle also highlighted that Nepal’s stock market is relatively transparent and well-regulated, with systems that allow tracking of transactions and ensure accountability.

He further added that reforms, including restructuring of NEPSE, will be gradually implemented to strengthen the capital market.
