Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle left for New Delhi on Thursday for a three-day official visit to India at the invitation of the Indian government.

The visit focuses on strengthening Nepal-India cooperation across economic, political and diplomatic areas, with post-disaster reconstruction among the key issues on the agenda. Wagle departed Kathmandu on a 7:35 AM flight.

During the visit, Wagle is scheduled to meet Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. He is due to meet Sitharaman on Thursday evening, followed by talks with Jaishankar on Friday.

Wagle will also participate in a series of high-level policy and business discussions in New Delhi. On Friday morning, he will attend a diplomatic dialogue hosted by former Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran. He will also participate in a meeting hosted by Javed Ashraf, Chairman of the India Trade Promotion Organisation.

On Saturday, Wagle is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at a conference with Indian industrialists organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He will subsequently participate as chief guest in an academic discussion on development economics organized by the Delhi School of Economics.

The discussions come as Nepal works on post-disaster recovery and reconstruction following the recent floods. Broader issues including trade, connectivity, investment and economic cooperation are also expected to feature in the engagements.

Wagle is scheduled to return to Nepal on Saturday.
