Finance Minister Wagle Says SEBON and Insurance Authority Chiefs Will Be Appointed After Thorough Background Checks
Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has said that appointments to the leadership of SEBON and the Nepal Insurance Authority will be made only after a detailed review of candidates' backgrounds, relationships, and past activities.

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has stated that the government is committed to appointing qualified, experienced, and reputable individuals to lead the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) and the Nepal Insurance Authority.
Speaking at an event organized by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce in Kathmandu, Wagle said that a candidate for the SEBON chairperson position has already been identified, but the government is conducting a comprehensive review before making the final appointment.
According to the minister, the selection process includes examining candidates' professional history, past activities, affiliations, and overall reputation to ensure the integrity of regulatory institutions. He emphasized that regulatory leadership positions require individuals with deep sector knowledge, regulatory experience, and a clean public image.
Wagle noted that the government is taking the appointment process seriously to ensure that the most suitable candidates are selected. He added that the same rigorous standards will be applied to the appointment of the Nepal Insurance Authority chairperson.
The minister reiterated that transparency, accountability, and professional competence remain key considerations in choosing leaders for Nepal's financial regulatory bodies.
