Fire at Jhapa Energy Plant Causes Estimated Loss of Rs. 60 Million
A fire broke out at the Jhapa Energy Plant in Shivasatakshi Municipality, Jhapa, causing an estimated loss of around Rs. 60 million.

A major fire at the Jhapa Energy Plant located in Ward No. 4 of Shivasatakshi Municipality has caused an estimated loss of around Rs. 60 million, according to police officials.
The fire reportedly started at approximately 2:10 PM on Monday and quickly spread through parts of the facility, damaging and destroying various machinery and equipment.
According to Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Jhapa, the plant is owned by Lal Prasad Sanwa, a 50-year-old resident of Dudhe in Ward No. 9 of Shivasatakshi Municipality.
Security personnel, firefighters from Shivasatakshi Municipality and Kamal Rural Municipality, along with local residents, worked together to bring the blaze under control. Authorities confirmed that the fire has now been fully extinguished.
The affected site is located approximately five kilometers southwest of the Area Police Office, Shivaganj.
Police have stated that the exact cause of the fire remains unknown and an investigation is currently underway to determine what triggered the incident.
