Fire Breaks Out on Turkish Airlines Aircraft During Landing at Tribhuvan Airport
A Turkish Airlines flight arriving from Istanbul caught fire on its tire while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Authorities confirmed that the fire was quickly controlled and all passengers are safe.

A Turkish Airlines flight arriving from Istanbul caught fire while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Monday morning.
According to Airport Security Office Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar Silwal, the fire broke out in one of the aircraft’s tires during landing. Emergency fire response teams immediately rushed to the scene and successfully controlled the fire.
“The fire occurred on the tire while the aircraft was landing this morning. It has been extinguished with the help of fire engines and the situation is now under control,” Silwal said.
Following the incident, the airport runway was temporarily closed for technical inspection and safety checks. Authorities confirmed that all 273 passengers and 11 crew members were safely evacuated through emergency exits.
Technical examinations of the aircraft are currently underway, while officials continue investigating the exact cause of the incident.
