Severe floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall have completely disrupted power generation and transmission from two hydropower projects operating in Myagdi and Baglung.

Mountain Energy Nepal Limited and Daramkhola Hydro Energy Limited have separately informed the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) that electricity transmission from their respective projects has been disrupted after damage to transmission infrastructure.

Mountain Energy's 42 MW Mistri Khola Hydropower Project, located in Narchyang of Annapurna Rural Municipality-4, Myagdi, has halted electricity transmission. The company said severe flooding and landslides in the Kali Gandaki River damaged a tower of the Nepal Electricity Authority's Dana-Kushma 220 kV transmission line, resulting in a complete shutdown of power transmission from the project.

Similarly, the 9.6 MW Daramkhola Hydroelectric Project in Baglung has also halted power generation and transmission. Flooding damaged poles and wires along the 33 kV transmission line connecting the project's switchyard to the Nepal Electricity Authority's Harichaur Substation.

The company said power generation and transmission at the project have remained completely halted since 8 PM on Ashwin 9 following the damage.

According to Daramkhola Hydro Energy, the project's headworks, powerhouse and other major structures have not sustained significant damage. Power generation is expected to resume once repairs to the damaged transmission line are completed.
