Fonepay Reappoints Diwas Sapkota as CEO for Four Years Amid IPO

Fonepay Payment Service Limited has reappointed Diwas Sapkota as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for another four-year term, effective from April 16, 2026, as the company moves forward with its IPO plans.

Sapkota joined Fonepay in 2019 as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and later served as Deputy CEO before taking over as CEO in 2022. Prior to joining Fonepay, he worked at Nepal Clearing House Limited.

Under his leadership, Fonepay has significantly expanded Nepal’s digital payment ecosystem. The company now operates across all 77 districts, with over 2 million merchants connected to its network.

Fonepay currently processes more than 2.5 million transactions daily, with daily transaction volumes exceeding Rs. 25 billion. Key achievements during Sapkota’s tenure include the launch of cross-border payment services and innovative offerings such as virtual credit cards.

The company aims to further strengthen its position in the digital financial services sector through capital expansion via its upcoming IPO
