Former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung Optimistic About Returning to Office After Clearance in Asset Probe

Former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has said he is hopeful of returning to the Ministry of Home Affairs after being cleared in an investigation related to his assets.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the first district convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Gorkha on Sunday, Gurung stated that he could begin delivering significant results within two months if he is reappointed as Home Minister.

He urged party members and supporters not to visit the ministry during the first two months for congratulatory meetings, photographs, or ceremonial greetings if he returns to office.

“If the committee clears me and the government reappoints me as Home Minister, I request everyone not to come to the ministry during the first two months just to congratulate me, take photos, or offer garlands,” he said.

Gurung claimed that he would use the initial months to streamline key operations within the ministry and lay the foundation for tangible reforms and results.

“Give me two months, and I will stabilize many of the ministry’s functions. If I fail to deliver after that, you can hold me accountable for my words,” he said.

During his address, Gurung also explained that he resigned from his ministerial position to allow an impartial investigation into questions raised regarding his assets. He stated that public officials have a responsibility to face scrutiny and answer questions related to their conduct and financial affairs.

According to Gurung, he provided clear answers to all questions regarding the sources of his assets while appearing before the investigation committee.
