Fuel Prices Increased in Nepal; Petrol, Diesel and Aviation Fuel Become Costlier

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has raised the prices of petroleum products effective from Monday midnight following a decision by its Board of Directors.

Under the revised pricing, petrol has become costlier by NPR 3 per litre, while diesel and kerosene have increased by NPR 5 per litre. The price of domestic aviation fuel has also been raised by NPR 20 per litre to NPR 249. For international aviation fuel, the price for Kathmandu has been increased by USD 131 per kilolitre, while rates for Pokhara and Bhairahawa remain unchanged.

Following the revision, the retail price of petrol and diesel/kerosene in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal has been set at NPR 200 per litre. The price is NPR 199 per litre in Surkhet and Dang, and NPR 197.50 per litre in Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalwari, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj.

The price of LPG for cooking remains unchanged at NPR 2,060 per cylinder.

According to NOC, although procurement costs from Indian Oil Corporation have increased significantly, only a limited price adjustment has been made to reduce the burden on consumers. The corporation estimates it will still incur a loss of around NPR 1.49 billion every 15 days despite the latest revision.
