Fuel Prices Revised in Nepal: LPG Surges by Rs. 150 as Petrol and Diesel Prices Drop

Nepal has implemented a fresh revision in fuel prices, bringing both relief and added burden to consumers depending on the type of fuel used.

According to the Nepal Oil Corporation, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs. 2 per liter. Diesel and kerosene have seen a more significant decrease of Rs. 12 per liter. With the updated rates, petrol is now priced at Rs. 214.50 per liter, while diesel and kerosene cost Rs. 222.50 per liter in first-category areas.

However, the biggest impact has been on cooking gas. The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has increased by Rs. 150 per cylinder. Consumers will now pay Rs. 2,160 for a standard 14.2 kg cylinder and Rs. 1,080 for a half cylinder (7.1 kg).

Aviation fuel prices have also been revised upward. Domestic aviation fuel has increased by Rs. 7 per liter, while international aviation fuel in Kathmandu has risen by USD 46 per kiloliter.

The corporation has attributed these price adjustments to ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, which continue to drive fluctuations in global oil prices. Due to the current pricing structure, the Nepal Oil Corporation projects a financial loss of approximately Rs. 1.81 billion over the next 15 days.
