Gas Cylinders of Any Brand Can Now Be Exchanged at the Same Price in Kathmandu Valley
The government has introduced an emergency arrangement allowing consumers in Kathmandu Valley to exchange empty LPG cylinders of any company for filled cylinders from another company at the same price.
The government has introduced an emergency arrangement in Kathmandu Valley after floods disrupted the LPG supply system and caused difficulties in the distribution of cooking gas. Under the new provision, consumers can exchange an empty cylinder from any LPG company for a filled cylinder from another company available in the market at the prescribed uniform price.
Industry, Commerce and Supplies Minister Gaurikumari Yadav has directed the concerned authorities to implement the arrangement within Kathmandu Valley. If a particular company's cylinder is unavailable, consumers will be allowed to use an inter-exchange system to obtain gas from another company's cylinder.
The arrangement means consumers will not have to wait for their regular brand if its cylinder is unavailable in the market. They can purchase LPG using a cylinder from another company as an immediate relief measure following supply disruptions caused by the floods.
Minister Yadav has instructed Nepal Oil Corporation and LPG companies to implement the decision immediately and strictly after discussions with industry representatives.
The ministry has also warned that businesses creating artificial shortages, refusing cylinder exchanges or violating the emergency arrangement will face strict action under prevailing laws.
