Gopal Prasad Bhatta Appointed Chairman of SEBON
The government has appointed former Nepal Rastra Bank Executive Director Gopal Prasad Bhatta as the new Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON).
The government has appointed Gopal Prasad Bhatta as the Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal.
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Friday. The position had remained vacant since former chairman Santosh Narayan Shrestha resigned on Baisakh 4.
Bhatta is a former Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank and has nearly three decades of experience in Nepal’s banking and regulatory sector.
He also holds a PhD in Management from Tribhuvan University. Market participants expect his appointment to help accelerate regulatory reforms and policy initiatives in Nepal’s capital market.
