The Government of Nepal has decided to immediately initiate preparations for the implementation of the upcoming fiscal year budget. A meeting of government secretaries chaired by Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal made several key administrative and fiscal decisions.
The meeting decided to auction vehicles damaged during the protests of Bhadra 23 and 24 within mid-July (Asar 15). It also directed that damaged furniture and machinery/equipment be either written off or disposed of through auction within the same timeframe.
For the effective implementation of the budget and programs for fiscal year 2083/84, the meeting instructed that cost estimation, tender processes, and related preparatory works be completed by the end of Asar.
The meeting further prioritized the settlement of irregularities (beruju) highlighted in the 63rd Annual Report of the Office of the Auditor General 2083. Weekly progress reports will be mandatorily submitted to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and the Beruju Settlement Monitoring Committee.
Agencies where audit records were destroyed in the incidents and audits could not be conducted will coordinate with the Office of the Auditor General in accordance with prevailing laws to complete auditing processes.
The meeting also decided to promptly register bills related to legal reforms under the government’s 100-point governance reform agenda in the Federal Parliament.
