Government offices can now pay electricity bills through online and digital payment channels. The new arrangement has been introduced following an agreement between the Nepal Electricity Authority and the Office of the Financial Comptroller General on implementing an electronic payment system.

The arrangement became possible after the Integrated Public Financial Management Service of the Office of the Financial Comptroller General was interconnected with the institutional customer payment system of the Nepal Electricity Authority.

With the new system, government agencies are expected to no longer need to rely on cash and cheques for electricity bill payments. Nepal Electricity Authority Executive Director Dighayukumar Shrestha said the digital payment system will make the electricity bill payment process easier and more organized for government offices.
