The Division Forest Office, Arghakhanchi, has launched a recruitment process for 'Monkey Watchers' to reduce crop damage caused by the growing monkey population. The initiative targets 26 monkey-affected areas across the district to support farmers and improve wildlife management.

Initially, the office plans to recruit 20 Monkey Watchers, with the possibility of adjusting the number based on future requirements and workload.

Applicants must be permanent residents of the affected areas, be under 45 years of age, and have an interest in forest conservation, wildlife, and biodiversity protection. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience as community forest workers, forest guards, or nursery caretakers.

Selected candidates will receive a monthly remuneration of NPR 12,500. Their responsibilities include monitoring monkey activity, alerting farmers in time, documenting crop damage, and reporting incidents to local ward offices and the Division Forest Office.

They will also be responsible for using environmentally friendly methods to safely guide monkeys away from farmland and back to their natural habitats without causing harm to the animals.
