Government Prioritizes ‘Digital Work Hubs’ and Internet Expansion for Remote Work
The Minister for Communication and IT has emphasized remote work, digital inclusion, and rural internet expansion as key government priorities.

The government has prioritized the expansion of digital work hubs and improved internet access as part of its broader digital transformation strategy, according to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Dr. Bikram Timsina.
Responding to questions raised in the House of Representatives, the minister stated that remote work, digital inclusion, and internet expansion in remote areas are among the government’s key priorities.
During the session, MP Rangila Yadav highlighted the need to establish digital work hubs and community IT centers to enable people in rural and remote regions to work without relocating to urban areas. The minister responded positively, stating that the government is already moving forward with necessary policies and programs to implement such initiatives.
According to him, expanding and improving the quality of telephone and internet services across the country—especially in remote and economically active regions—is a major focus area. Budget allocations and structured programs will be introduced to support this expansion.
He further added that the information system required for enabling remote work has already been developed, and the initiative is now moving toward implementation following necessary policy decisions. The government aims to strengthen digital infrastructure and create an environment where citizens can work globally while staying in their local communities.
