Government to Refund Education and Health Equity Fees Within 15 Days
The Government of Nepal has directed that all education and health equity fees collected so far be refunded to the respective service recipients within 15 days.
The Government of Nepal has announced that all education and health equity fees collected to date will be refunded to the respective service recipients within 15 days. The decision was officially published in the Nepal Gazette on Thursday.
Exercising the authority granted under Section 18(1) of the Financial Act for the current fiscal year, the government has fully waived the Education and Health Equity Fee.
Earlier, Prime Minister Balendra Shah announced the abolition of the fee on Shrawan 5, and the Council of Ministers formally approved the decision at its meeting on Shrawan 6.
According to the notice issued by Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. Ghanshyam Upadhyay, any individual or institution that has collected the education or health equity fee must refund the collected amount to the respective payer within 15 days.
If the amount cannot be refunded within the specified period, it must be deposited into the Federal Consolidated Fund, the notice states.
The government said the refund mechanism has been introduced to ensure that citizens who previously paid the fee receive reimbursement following its abolition.
