The Government of Nepal has initiated a review of its foreign employment policy to reduce the financial burden on migrant workers, including revisiting the 'Free Visa, Free Ticket' policy. Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Ramji Yadav said the government aims to make overseas recruitment more transparent, accountable, and worker-friendly while preventing workers from taking high-interest loans or selling assets to secure foreign jobs.

The minister said the revised Foreign Employment Act will introduce a fully digital recruitment process, reward compliance, and impose stricter penalties for violations. The government also plans to gradually implement an employer-pays recruitment model, under which employers bear all recruitment costs. In addition, an online grievance platform has been launched to address workers' complaints, while Nepal will continue strengthening international cooperation to promote safe, orderly, and ethical labour migration.
