Governor Unaffected by Ordinance, Central Bank Leadership Remains Stable
Despite the new ordinance removing many political appointees, Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Bishwanath Paudel will retain his position.

The newly issued “Ordinance on Removal of Public Officials, 2083” has led to the removal of over 1,500 officials across various sectors. However, Bishwanath Paudel will remain in his position as Governor.
Earlier, there were widespread speculations that the governor might also be removed under the ordinance. However, since the Nepal Rastra Bank Act was not included in the ordinance, his position remains secure.
Similarly, officials from state-owned banks including Nepal Bank Limited, Agricultural Development Bank, and Rastriya Banijya Bank will also not be affected.
Analysts suggest that excluding key financial institutions from the ordinance reflects an effort to maintain stability in Nepal’s financial system while proceeding with administrative reforms elsewhere.
