Harka Sampang Accuses Government of Displacing Squatter Settlements, Demands PM’s Response in Parliament
MP Harka Sampang has criticized the government, alleging that demolition of squatter and informal settlements has left many citizens homeless, and has demanded the Prime Minister address Parliament.

Labour Culture Party MP Harka Sampang has alleged that many citizens have been rendered homeless after bulldozers were used in squatter and informal settlements under the Prime Minister’s directive.
Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, he said the affected citizens are now in a vulnerable situation due to the government’s actions. He also reiterated his party’s demand that remarks related to border issues involving the Prime Minister be removed from parliamentary records.
Sampang further demanded that the Prime Minister appear in Parliament to answer questions raised by lawmakers. He stressed that it is time to begin the “second phase” of parliamentary proceedings, urging the government to focus on the problems faced by squatters and informal settlers.
According to him, displaced citizens are currently staying in holding centers in areas including Kirtipur, where even basic necessities such as food and water are reportedly lacking.
He emphasized that since the displaced individuals are Nepali citizens, the government must take serious responsibility for ensuring their basic needs and welfare.
