Bhajani Primary Health Centre in Kailali has suspended services under Nepal's health insurance scheme, causing difficulties for patients seeking treatment.

The health centre discontinued insurance-covered pharmacy and laboratory services from Jestha 29 after it failed to receive reimbursement payments owed under the government-backed health insurance program.

According to health centre official Amar Singh Chaudhary, the facility can no longer bear the financial burden of providing insured services using its own resources after government payments were reduced or delayed.

During the current fiscal year, 4,376 patients received treatment through the health insurance scheme at the centre. However, following the suspension of insurance services, only 65 patients have sought treatment at the facility.

Health Centre Management Committee Chairperson Dharmendra Shrestha said repeated requests to the local government for budget support have not received a positive response. He urged the concerned authorities to allocate the necessary funds so that health insurance services can resume.
