Home Minister Warns Those Leaking Confidential Information Will Face Legal Action

Home Minister Sudan Gurung has warned that anyone who unauthorizedly leaks confidential or sensitive information from the Ministry of Home Affairs and its subordinate agencies will face legal action. He said he has been closely monitoring the practice of sharing sensitive information with unauthorized individuals or organizations by misusing official positions.

The minister made the statement following the suspension of Armed Police Force AIG Banshiraj Dahal over allegations related to information leakage. Gurung emphasized that even minor information, intelligence or confidential details received by the ministry can play a decisive role in crime prevention, investigations and establishing facts surrounding serious incidents.

He described the misuse of confidentiality entrusted by the state as a betrayal of the country and the organization. Gurung stressed that sensitive state information is not anyone’s private property but a public responsibility.

He warned that official positions provide access to information but do not grant anyone the right to misuse it. According to the minister, anyone deliberately betraying the country and organization by misusing sensitive information will not receive immunity and will be brought before the law.
