ICRA Nepal Reaffirms Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank at BB
ICRA Nepal has reaffirmed Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank’s issuer rating at BB, indicating a moderate risk of default in meeting financial obligations.

ICRA Nepal Limited has reaffirmed Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Limited (MLBL)’s issuer rating at [ICRANP-IR] BB, indicating a moderate level of risk of default in meeting its financial obligations.
The BB issuer rating reflects the bank’s overall creditworthiness and indicates that it carries a moderate risk of not meeting its financial obligations on time.
ICRA Nepal clarified that the issuer rating represents the overall creditworthiness of Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank and is not assigned to any specific debt instrument issued by the bank.
The rating provides an assessment of the bank’s ability to meet its financial obligations and is intended to help investors and other stakeholders understand the institution’s overall credit profile.
ICRA Nepal also explained that rating symbols may include a “+” or “–” sign to indicate the relative strength of an issuer within the same rating category.
Under this classification, BB+ is one notch higher than BB, while BB- is one notch lower than BB. The BB rating therefore sits between the stronger BB+ and weaker BB- positions within the category.
The reaffirmation of Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank’s ICRANP-IR BB rating indicates that the bank continues to maintain a moderate credit risk profile according to ICRA Nepal’s assessment.
