India Rejects Nepal’s Claim on Lipulekh–Limpiyadhura Dispute

India has responded to Nepal’s recent diplomatic communication regarding the Lipulekh–Limpiyadhura border dispute by rejecting its claims.

The Ministry of External Affairs of India stated that Nepal’s claims are “baseless and not consistent with historical facts and evidence.” Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated India’s longstanding position, describing Nepal’s statement as a matter raised in media attention.

India also claimed that the Lipulekh Pass has been used as a route for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage since 1954. It indicated no acceptance of Nepal’s objections.

Earlier, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had formally conveyed its position to both India and China through diplomatic channels. However, China has not yet issued any official response.

India added that it remains open to constructive dialogue and engagement with Nepal to address the issue.
