India to Supply Up to 654 MW of Electricity to Nepal Daily
India will supply up to 654 MW of electricity to Nepal from September 13 to December 31 with 600 MW transmitted through Muzaffarpur-Dhalkebar and 54 MW through Tanakpur-Mahendranagar.
India has decided to supply up to 654 megawatts (MW) of electricity to Nepal daily from September 13 to December 31, 2026, according to the Indian Ministry of Energy.
Under the decision, electricity will be supplied to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) from midnight to 6 PM each day during the period.
Of the total allocation, up to 600 MW will be transmitted through the Muzaffarpur-Dhalkebar 400 kV double-circuit transmission line, while another 54 MW will be supplied through the Tanakpur-Mahendranagar 132 kV single-circuit transmission line.
India has also stated that electricity exports to Nepal from January 2027 onward will be reviewed in December 2026.
The decision comes after severe flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on Bhadra 10 damaged infrastructure associated with hydropower projects.
India said the electricity supply reflects its commitment to supporting Nepal during difficult circumstances and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
