Investor Tilak Koirala Announces Lockout at SEBON and Brokers Association

Investor and capital market campaigner Tilak Koirala has announced plans to stage a lockout at the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) and the Nepal Stock Brokers Association on Tuesday morning. According to Koirala, the protest will begin at the Brokers Association at 8:30 a.m. before moving to SEBON at 9:00 a.m.

Speaking through a Facebook Live session, Koirala claimed Nepal's capital market is facing a serious crisis and urged the government to immediately introduce a "Capital Market Rescue Plan." He warned that without urgent intervention, the market could enter a deeper free fall, affecting investors, brokerage firms, banks, and the broader economy.

Koirala also accused Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle and SEBON's leadership of ignoring investors' concerns. He said he had previously submitted a 24-point reform proposal to the finance minister but alleged that no meaningful action has been taken.
