IPPAN to Hold 24th Annual General Meeting and 8th Convention on Friday
The Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) is set to hold its 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and 8th Convention on Friday

The Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) will hold its 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and 8th Convention on Friday.
IPPAN President Ganesh Karki said preparations for the AGM and convention are currently underway. According to him, more than 700 companies are currently affiliated with the organization.
In a statement issued on Monday, IPPAN said that its 21st AGM held on Jestha 32, 2080 had formed a five-member committee under the coordination of Bhanubhakta Pokharel to revise and rewrite the organization's statute. The committee had proposed transforming IPPAN into a federation and submitted its report on Jestha 29, 2082.
The proposal was discussed during the 23rd AGM held on Asar 31, 2082, which authorized the president to proceed with its implementation.
However, a meeting of the executive committee held on Baisakh 4, 2083 concluded that transforming IPPAN into a federation was not feasible. As a result, the committee decided to conduct the 24th AGM and 8th Convention under the existing IPPAN Statute, 2078.
The organization has also proposed key amendments to its statute. A decision made during the 203rd executive committee meeting recommends removing the provision that automatically promotes the Senior Vice President to the position of President.
Under the proposed amendment, only individuals who have completed at least one term in the executive committee and are deemed eligible would be allowed to contest for the presidency. The proposal also seeks to ensure open competition for all leadership positions.
Meanwhile, IPPAN has rejected allegations made by Deputy General Secretary Prakash Chandra Dulal, who publicly claimed that the statute revision draft had gone missing and that the AGM was being organized in violation of the statute.
The association described the allegations as baseless and misleading, stating that all statute-related documents and reports remain securely preserved at the secretariat.
IPPAN also noted that public notices regarding the AGM and convention had already been published on Jestha 9 and 10. The association urged members not to be influenced by misinformation and called for their active participation in making the convention successful.
