Janakpurdham–Ayodhya Special Train Service Nears Launch
Preparations for a special train service connecting Janakpurdham in Nepal with Ayodhya in India under the Ramayana Circuit have reached the final stage.

Preparations to operate a special train service connecting Janakpurdham in Nepal with Ayodhya in India under the Ramayana Circuit have entered their final stage. The proposed railway link is expected to strengthen religious tourism and cultural connections between the two countries.
Nepal Railway Company Managing Director Paribesh Parajuli said technical and security-related discussions are underway to launch the service during Prime Minister Balendra Shah's upcoming official visit to India, expected to begin around Mangsir 6, 2083.
Under the proposed security arrangement, Nepali security agencies will be responsible for passenger and train safety within Nepal, while Indian security forces will oversee security on the Indian side. Officials from both countries have also conducted discussions and joint inspections along the Jayanagar–Janakpurdham–Kurtha railway section, involving railway, customs, security and immigration authorities.
The proposed connection will link Janakpurdham, regarded as the birthplace of Goddess Sita, with Ayodhya, traditionally associated with the birthplace of Lord Ram. The service is expected to promote religious tourism, strengthen Nepal–India cultural ties and support economic activities in the surrounding areas.
Regular railway services are already operating from Jayanagar in India through Janakpurdham to Bijalpura in Mahottari district. The proposed special service would extend the railway connection's significance by linking two major destinations associated with the Ramayana.
