Jawalakhel Central Zoo Reopens After Bird Flu Outbreak is Contained
Jawalakhel Central Zoo has reopened to the public after authorities confirmed that the bird flu outbreak had been successfully contained.

Jawalakhel Central Zoo in Lalitpur has reopened to the public from today after authorities confirmed that the bird flu outbreak has been successfully contained.
The zoo had remained closed since Asar 5 after avian influenza was detected in several birds, including crows, vultures, and ducks. Following treatment of infected birds, thorough sanitation, and other disease control measures, environmental testing found no trace of the bird flu virus, allowing the zoo to resume operations.
According to the zoo administration, the decision to reopen was made after a meeting of senior officials from the Department of Livestock Services, the Central Veterinary Laboratory, and the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division.
Zoo spokesperson and Information Officer Ganesh Koirala said the zoo will remain open for entry from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, while visitors must leave the premises by 5:00 PM.
The management has urged visitors to maintain a safe distance from animals and birds, avoid restricted enclosures marked with red ribbons, dispose of waste properly, refrain from eating in open areas, and wear face masks during their visit.
