Kathmandu Metropolitan City Issues 15-Day Ultimatum to GB Rai, Gorkha Media Assets Face Auction

The Law and Human Rights Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has issued a 15-day public notice in the name of Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd.

The case involves a dispute between plaintiff Mrigendra Prasad Mishra, a resident of Ward No. 3 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and defendant Gitenendra Babu Rai (GB Rai), chairman of Gorkha Media Network, regarding the recovery of unpaid rent and vacating of property. The Judicial Committee had ruled in favor of the plaintiff, ordering the recovery of rent and rental tax along with the eviction of the property.

The Patan High Court had issued a mandamus order on August 13, 2025, directing authorities to implement the decision within two months. Kathmandu Metropolitan City stated that the order was enforced on October 31, 2025.

After six months of implementation, plaintiff Mrigendra Mishra filed an application on May 4, 2026, requesting the auction of items located at Galaxy 4K.

According to the public notice, the concerned party has been given a final 15-day deadline to clear outstanding rental payments and remove their belongings. The metropolitan office has warned that if the items are not removed within the specified period, they will be auctioned under Section 70 of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Dispute Resolution Procedure Act, 2018.
