Kathmandu–Hetauda Alternative Routes Announced, Separate Routes Set for Small and Heavy Vehicles
Authorities have announced alternative routes and new travel schedules between Kathmandu and Hetauda after vehicle movement along the Prithvi Highway was disrupted by erosion from the Trishuli River.
Alternative routes connecting Kathmandu and Hetauda have been announced after erosion caused by the Trishuli River disrupted traffic along the Prithvi Highway.
The routes were determined through coordination between the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office and the District Administration Office, Makwanpur, considering monsoon conditions and the current state of the roads.
Route for Small Vehicles
Small vehicles travelling from Kathmandu to Hetauda will use the Pharping–Phakhel–Kulekhani–Bhimfedi route.
Small vehicles travelling from Hetauda toward Kathmandu will follow Bhimfedi–Kulekhani–Sisneri–Dakshinkali before entering Kathmandu.
Route for Heavy and Cargo Vehicles
Large and cargo vehicles travelling from Kathmandu to Hetauda will use the Chapagaun–Bhattedanda–Thingan route.
Vehicles using this route must cross the Thingan checkpoint by 6:00 PM.
Heavy and cargo vehicles travelling from Hetauda to Kathmandu will use the Bhaise–Palung–Tistung–Naubise route.
Warning Over Weak Bailey Bridge
Traffic police have warned fuel tankers and heavy cargo vehicles not to use the Bailey bridge near Trikhandi in Makwanpur, citing concerns over its load-bearing capacity.
Heavy cargo vehicles have instead been instructed to use the diversion located beside the Bailey bridge.
Authorities have urged drivers to follow the designated routes and schedules, particularly during the monsoon season when road and bridge conditions may pose additional risks.
