Korala Border Customs Collects Rs. 1.78 Billion in Revenue in 15 Days

The Mustang Customs Office at the Korala border has collected Rs. 1.78 billion in revenue in just 15 days, as a sharp increase in imports has followed the closure of the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border.
The Nepal-China customs point at Nhechung, Lomanthang-4, Mustang, has experienced a significant rise in customs activity after floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa disrupted the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung crossing.
According to Mustang Customs Office Chief Bidur Chudal, the closure of the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border has redirected a substantial volume of Chinese goods through the Korala border.
The customs office collected Rs. 270 million in revenue on Friday alone. Since September 7, daily revenue collection has been around Rs. 300 million, with officials expecting the higher level of activity to continue.
On Friday, customs officials processed 71 containers and 106 electric vehicles (EVs) destined for different parts of Nepal.
Since the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border was closed, the Mustang Customs Office has processed a total of 434 containers and 641 EVs entering Nepal through Korala.
The surge in imports has transformed the previously quieter Korala border into a major customs and revenue-generating hub for Nepal.
