Following a temporary shortage of LPG gas in the market, the Nepal LP Gas Industry Association has urged consumers not to stock more cylinders than necessary.

The association stated that LPG imports and distribution are continuing normally. According to the organization, the temporary shortage occurred because consumers started refilling and storing additional cylinders at the same time.

Association President Diwan Chand said there has been no decline in the quantity of LPG imported from India to Nepal. He stated that around 100 gas bullets are still entering Nepal daily, similar to previous periods.

He added that gas companies are supplying LPG to the market based on the quantity provided by the Nepal Oil Corporation.

According to Chand, increased consumer demand due to excessive cylinder storage has created temporary pressure in the market. He said the situation would improve if consumers avoided storing more gas than required.

Association member Bimal Kalakheti said the association had suggested distributing fully filled cylinders on time, but delays contributed to the current situation.

He emphasized that LPG is still being imported in normal quantities and there is no long-term supply problem.

Currently, around 15 million LPG cylinders are in use across Nepal. Among them, approximately 5 million cylinders are stored at various gas depots.

The government started distributing half-filled cylinders from Falgun 28. Nepal currently has 59 LPG gas industries operating across the country.
